Gérald Maradan

Co-Founder & CEO

A recognized expert in climate and carbon strategies for businesses and territories, Gérald co-founded EcoAct in 2005.

Physicist and engineer by training (he holds an engineering degree from INPG – Grenoble Institute of Technology – and a MRes in Physics from INP Toulouse), he also holds an MBA from HEC, Paris.

He has coordinated more than 100 consulting missions and participated in the development of more than 25 carbon offset programs (biomass, wind, methanisation, hydropower, heat recovery, energy efficiency, REDD +). Gérald also worked at STMicroelectronics, a world leader in new technologies. Responsible for the development of environmental programs, he participated in 1996 in the first large scale global carbon neutral experiment. He has since conduct many groups in the implementation of their carbon neutral policy.

A member of Finance for Tomorrow, Chairman of ICROA (International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance), Gerald regularly speaks at international climate conferences.

Gérald is also the co-founder of the NGO Entrepreneurs for life, which supports innovative social entrepreneurs with the aim of reducing poverty.

Thierry Fornas

Co-Founder & President

Co-founder and President of EcoAct, Thierry brings his climate and carbon strategy expertise to businesses and territories for more than 12 years.

Graduated from the HEC MBA and ESIEE Paris engineer, Thierry created EcoAct in 2005, after a career at Schlumberger Industries and STMicroelectronics. In this context, he participated in 1996 in the first major carbon neutrality operation. Since then, he has led more than 200 climate and carbon strategy consulting assignments on behalf of businesses and communities.

Thierry is a founding member of APCC (Association of Professionals in Carbon Consulting) and President of Climate Pal, an organization that develops low carbon projects in East Africa, including improved cookstoves and agroforestry projects.

Sylvianne Villaudière

Associate Director of EcoAct; Founding Director of Alliantis

Sylvianne is a recognized expert in alliance strategies and CSR-climate communication for companies and territories.

Graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Studies, Sylvianne Villaudière began her career in 1985 in consulting firms in corporate communication (Bernard Krief Consultants, Tilder Associates) and was Managing Director of EuroPanorama (Forum des regions d ‘Europe).

Since 2000, she has founded and directs Alliantis, a consulting and support force specializing in alliances strategy and CSR-SDG communication, with executives of companies and organizations carrying a project of general interest. Since the merger of EcoAct and Alliantis in February 2017, she is also Associate Director of EcoAct.

A committed woman, Sylvianne was general coordinator of “COP21 Solutions” at the Grand Palais in Paris in 2015, and coordinator of COP22 Enterprises in Morocco in 2016. She also has experience in associative functions: General Delegate of the College of Directors of the Sustainable Development (C3D), Member of the Steering Committee of the Club France Sustainable Development, Member of the Board of Directors of Women, Debate and Society (FDS), President of the Communication and Training Committee of the Society for the Promotion of the National Industry.

Mark Chadwick

CEO, EcoAct UK

Mark founded Carbon Clear after a career in the Internet industry. After the birth of his daughter, Mark decided to invest himself full-time into helping to leave a better world for her generation. Carbon Clear flourished and has now merged with EcoAct. He brings to the company a passion for contributing to the climate change solution, strong business management experience, and an enthusiasm for growing successful entrepreneurial ventures. Mark has an MBA from London Business School and also won the Guardian Unltd Award for social entrepreneurship.

William Theisen

Managing Director, EcoAct North America

CEO of EcoAct – USA, William has 10 years of experience in finance and development of low-carbon projects.

A graduate of Boston University and an MBA from HEC Paris, William began his career with the Gold Standard Foundation. He then worked for the NGOs Nexus and GERES (Renewable Energies, Environment and Solidarity Group) where he participated in the development of a dozen low-carbon projects in Africa and Asia, thanks to carbon finance and crowd-funding.. As Director of Business Development and Nexus Partnerships, William has also established partnerships between these projects and numerous international companies: Deutsche Post DHL, Coca-Cola, Veolia Water.

In collaboration with Yale University, William conducted research on risk assessment and opportunities for the development of improved cookstove projects, through carbon finance, in West Africa.

William is also a member of the Executive Committee of the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA).

Rachel Hunter

Director of Marketing and Communications

Rachel has over ten years of experience working in marketing, communications and public relations in the finance, energy and environment and charity sectors. Rachel’s skill set lies in developing strategy based on client requirements and communicating accessible and interesting content across a range of digital, broadcast and print channels. She also has extensive experience in managing events and PR and media work. Rachel holds a BA Hons in International Studies and French from the University of Birmingham and a Professional Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketers

Stuart Lemmon

Managing Director

Stuart joined EcoAct UK (then Carbon Clear) in 2012 bringing over 17 years’ experience in Environmental Consultancy. His career includes a range of operational roles in environmental management, sustainability and risk disciplines. Stuart has experience of working in a wide range of both private and public sectors including property, construction, financial services, process industry, utilities, oil & gas and central and local government.

Stuart has a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Sciences and an MBA. He provides technical direction and project management support across EcoAct’s consulting projects. His projects include large multi-site audit and data collation exercises, system development and implementation and target setting and performance monitoring across multi stakeholder organisations.

Meinrad Bürer

Director, Research and Development

R & D Director at EcoAct, Meinrad has more than 15 years of experience in climate issues, energy sector, community resilience, and certification tools and standards applied to the evaluation of development contributions particularly in the context of the carbon market.

A graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and a PhD in Energy Systems Modeling and Optimization, Meinrad has held strategic consulting positions in the private sector and held senior positions in the private sector. ‘non-governmental organizations. He has served as Technical Director of the Gold Standard Foundation, and Senior Administrator in charge of climate issues at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). He has also conducted research activities in the field of energy transition at EPFL, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and more recently at the Institute of Environmental Sciences of the University of Geneva. Meinrad is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Gold Standard, where he also chairs the Technical Governance Committee.

At EcoAct, Meinrad oversees technology watch and innovation strategy for the development and launch of new products and services in France and internationally.
