About the role

Playing a key role in the Commercial team, this role will work collaboratively with colleagues
across the business to examine EcoAct’s revenue, operations and costs to suggest
opportunities for improvements. The primary goal of the role is to assess our commercial
operating patterns and recommend strategies to make improvements.
The mission of the Commercial Analyst is to bridge the gap between conventional business
and new approaches. Providing critical, actionable information about business improvement
opportunities and efficiencies. Analysis of competitors, target companies, and sales
performance.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Evaluation of sales performance by division and service line – monthly and quarterly
reporting to management team, including margin analysis, performance against budget
and successful/lost bids etc.
• Analysis of sales and marketing functions, comparison from previous years and
quarters, suggesting strategies for improving business performance to ensure optimal
ROI.
• Seek best practices to drive process standardisation in maintaining commercial
systems; develop risk plans.
• Perform market analysis and work with internal stakeholders to identify market trends,
client demand, and commercial opportunities.
• Identify and analyse competitors, scrutinize their performance, and their product and
service offerings.
• Provide input in budgeting and forecasting for sales, marketing and business planning.
• Perform strategic analysis, prepare financial models to predict the outcomes of changes
in the business model and support effective decision making.
• Support with the financial audit, including analysis of project performance and
preparation of supporting commercial documentation.
• Communicate effectively and build confidence between multiple teams, disciplines, and
seniority levels to understand varying perspectives and provide data-backed
recommendations.

Relationships

Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Commercial Analyst will be required to work closely
with all members of the EcoAct team, particularly Finance and senior management, to achieve
company objectives. Cross-departmental relationships are a key part of the role, with a
requirement to liaise with Advisory, Sales, Marketing teams in the UK and from overseas
offices.

Professional Background and Experience

This position would suit an accomplished professional with a passion for sustainability who is
looking to expand their career in Commercial Analysis.

The post-holder will:
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Business
Administration or similar.
• Be able to demonstrate success or aptitude for commercial analysis using Excel and
Power BI.
• Have experience of communicating with multiple, diverse stakeholders including Senior
management.
• Have experience of analysing and reviewing reports on commercial data, such as
sales/market trends, and creating and providing proactive recommendations.
• Have experience of applying statistical concepts to derive insights from financial data
• Have experience of compiling financial and operational data; assessing and analysing
progress towards organisational strategic goals.
• Have experience of predictive economic research in financial forecasting and
understand the value chain of an organisation.

Location

The role is based in the UK with a flexible blend of home and office working. The role requires
attendance at the London head office as necessary for business purposes.
