About the role

With increasing corporate action towards climate change with complex transformational
service requirements, we see an increasing number of Requests for Proposal (RFPs) with
formal tendering processes for the provision of our consultancy and offsetting services. The
mission of the Bid Manager is to act as the project leader overseeing the end-to-end
technical process, from bid qualification to, submitting winning proposals and supporting
handover of awarded contracts to our teams.

The Bid Manager is responsible for developing EcoAct’s response to formal tender
opportunities, ensuring our submission complies with all stated requirements around timing,
structure, assessment criteria, provision of supporting documentation, etc. to maximise our
opportunity for success. In addition, the individual will support the Commercial Director with
coordinate bids and bid resources to ensure maximum utilisation of resources and maximise
win probabilities.

The successful applicant will play a key role in the Commercial team, working collaboratively
with team peers and Advisory consulting colleagues to support EcoAct’s market leading
services to our target client base, typically FTSE 100, 250, corporates or similar across the
UK and the North Europe region.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Bid Manager will lead tendering activities that may involve the provision of multiple
services and require interaction with a large number of stakeholders including clients and
both senior technical and management colleagues at Eco-Act. Expectations of the role
include the following:

• Contributing to the appropriate qualification of sales opportunities, with an emphasis
on formal tender / RFP processes
• Directing the development and production of high-quality winning propositions in line
with the agreed sales strategy. This includes written proposals, client presentations
and commercial proposals.
• Developing and maintaining successful relationships with clients, partners and advisors
• Leadership and direction to incorporate contributions from other team members across
the business
• End to end planning of bid activity from identification and pursuit through to
negotiation, closure, and handover to delivery & account management team.
• Defining and securing required bid resources
• Identification, management, and mitigation of risks
• Projection and control of associated bid costs to an agreed budget
• Contribution to ongoing development of best-practice and innovative bid management.
• Update and support management of the bid library as well as supporting the
development of sales content.

Relationships

Reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager, the Bid Manager will be required
to work closely with all members of the EcoAct team, particularly senior management, to
achieve Company objectives. External relationships are part of the role, with a
requirement to liaise with clients and prospective clients, project teams, overseas offices,
and representatives from partner organisations.

Professional Background and Experience

This position would suit an individual with a desire to work in a purpose-driven
environment who can demonstrate very high levels of proactivity, initiative and deliver
outputs with an eye for detail.

• Strong project management experience is essential, along with a good understanding
of business development processes typical to a relationship-orientated consulting
business.
• Sustainability, ESG, carbon and/or environmental and energy management advisory
related service experience is desirable. However, ability and willingness to learn about
existing and evolving service lines in good time is essential.
• A successful track record as Bid Manager in large/complex pursuits, adherence to
commercial approvals and tendering processes or have demonstrated success in a
related role and be committed to a future career in bid management.
• Experience of operating within formal and informal procurement processes.
• Able to demonstrate success and aptitude for working in a consultative environment,
efficiently managing bid participants, and producing impactful deliverables.

• Impeccable integrity and ethical standards with a willingness to embrace the company

Location

The role is based in the UK with a flexible blend of home and office working. The role
requires attendance at the London head office as necessary for business purposes.
