Targets and Reporting

Science-based targets

Science-based targets (SBTs) are emission reductions targets aligned with the rate of decarbonisation required by science to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees.

Science-based targets

In 2018, the intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) released a report highlighting the importance of keeping global warming to 1.5°C in order to limit the catastrophic impacts of climate change.

SBTs are near-term and long-term emission reduction targets that are aligned to the level of decarbonisation required to meet this objective.

Developing ambitious and meaningful carbon emission reduction targets is now a pivotal part of a corporate sustainability strategy and transition planning.

Feasibility assessment

Setting ambitious emissions reduction targets needs to be backed by a robust assessment of feasibility. We have developed our own Carbon Reduction and Feasibility Tool (CRaFT) to assist with this assessment process.

Making the business case

Our assessment process can help you to gain the all-important buy-in to commit to SBTs. We can also help demonstrate the reputational benefits and the value of targets set with scientific rigour.

Setting your targets

Gathering the data. Tackling the challenges of Scope 3. Calculating accurate and achievable reduction targets following recognised cross-sector or sector specific approaches. We can help with all of these.

Achieving SBTi validation

The Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) is the body that assesses and validates SBTs. We can support you through this process and guide you to recognition for your targets.
