About the role

Carbon offset and net zero initiatives are gaining momentum in all our geographical areas. The voluntary market is growing rapidly as well as the demand for voluntary offsetting. On the compliance side, regional and sectorial regulations are escalating as well. Project development demand is growing, with increased interest in carbon sequestration and removals.

As a fast-growing organization, we are currently looking for a Head of Portfolio & Partnerships within the Nature and Technology Based Solutions Business Unit. This role will focus on leading the team responsible for sourcing high quality carbon offsets and identifying new project development opportunities, in addition to the management and execution of the various responsibilities as described below.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

The Head of Portfolio & Partnerships is responsible for managing the Portfolio & Partnerships team to enrich the Carbon Offset portfolio of EcoAct with Best-In-Class projects and qualitative environmental assets. The key responsibilities include the following:

  • Manage the Portfolio & Partnerships team overall strategy with the Group Director of Nature & Technology Based Solutions (NTBS);
  • Ensure that the EcoAct and Eviden standards and procedures are applied by the team;
  • Put in place and track the necessary KPIs and tools, in collaboration with the Project Development team, Process & Quality team and the Group Director of NTBS;
  • Implement periodic review of reporting and indicators;
  • Contribute to the strategic development of EcoAct’s innovative global carbon offset portfolio of projects;
  • Responsible for the overall strategy and governance of the NTBS’ Portfolio & Partnerships team globally;
  • Manage the Portfolio & Partnerships team, including mentoring and training staff;
  • Build network by developing new and reinforcing long-term strategic partnerships;
  • Where needed, supporte the team with engaging key historical partners and new project developers to discuss availability, quality level and price of environmental projects and assets to enrich EcoAct’s Portfolio;
  • Visit newly identified projects onsite.


Reporting directly to the Group Director of Nature & Technology Based Solutions, this role will be required to work closely with all members of the team, both Advisory, Commercial and Nature and Technology Based Solutions, to achieve Company objectives. External relationships are a key part of the role, with a requirement to liaise with project teams, clients, overseas offices, and representatives from partner organisations.

Professional Background and Experience

For success in this role the post holder will already have a successful track record in a similar capacity or have demonstrated outstanding success in a related role and be committed to a future career in a senior sustainability role.

Expertise and experience in some of the following areas and a willingness to learn others is required:


  • Have a thorough understanding of the voluntary carbon market, the market evolution and the main players;
  • Have an existing network of partners and project holders across the market;
  • Expert knowledge of voluntary carbon markets, carbon project development, nature-based carbon accounting methodologies, and both global certification standards and National labels;
  • Knowledge and experience working in Carbon Finance as part of the voluntary carbon offsetting at a national and international level.


  • A professional, team-oriented, relationship-oriented approach to managing successful, long-term stakeholder engagements;
  • Experience and success in contributing to building teams and business lines in a commercial and profitable way;
  • Strong leadership and management skills and a team player with high personal and professional standards, who can mentor and motivate more junior staff


The role is based in the UK with a flexible blend of home and office working. The role requires attendance at the London head office as necessary for business purposes.
