About the role

Our Advisory Team of Consultants help our clients create business value through carbon, energy, sustainability and climate risk management.

The  main focus of the Climate Transition Risk Consultant is to enable our clients to understand their exposure and preparedness to climate related impacts, using the results to support them in assessing their climate-related risks and opportunities in the context of frameworks such as TCFD.

They will understand relevant risk methodologies, climate data and models in a commercial context and translate them into client friendly terms. The role will contribute to our overall consultancy function, however there will be a key focus on climate scenario analysis.

Our Climate Transition Risk Consultant will be:

  • Supporting and advising clients by offering creative and innovative solutions to Climate Scenario Analysis and scenario development including TCFD, both in terms of technical and commercial expertise;
  • Working with our clients to align projects to client-specific reporting frameworks and requirements relating to climate risk and opportunity assessment and reporting;
  • Providing recommendations to our clients on their strategy development aligned to the results of Climate Scenario Analysis;
  • The opportunity to support and project manage a wide variety of projects across the A-Zero spectrum of the EcoAct offering, including: GHG foot-printing, benchmarking, SBTis, and corporate reporting and compliance
  • The opportunity to support and project manage on Measurement and Reporting Systems (MRS), CDP, Environmental and Energy Management systems, Climate Finance, Life Cycle Assessment and Scope 3 Assessments.
  • Supporting the Business Development team on proposals related to climate risks and opportunities and help to develop new tailored methodologies / solutions for clients;
  • External relationships are a key part of the role, with a requirement to liaise with project teams, clients, overseas offices, regulators and representatives from partner organisations;
  • Contributing to firm building and identifying improvements in our service offerings;
  • Quality Assuring large data sets and analytical outputs; producing findings reports following research and communicate recommendations to the wider team.

Relationships

Reporting to a senior member of the Advisory Team, the Climate Risk Consultant will be required to work closely with all members of the team, both Advisory and Business Development, to achieve Company objectives. External relationships are a key part of the role, with a requirement to liaise with project teams, clients, overseas offices, and representatives from partner organisations.

About you

The ideal candidate will likely have an academic background in engineering or sciences. The role requires experience within the field of climate risk analysis, climate science, and decarbonisation services.

Expertise on some of the following areas and a willingness to learn others is required:

  • Experience of performing climate transition risk analysis within a consultancy or similar client-facing environment;
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and analysis including materiality assessment, interviews, workshops and peer benchmarking;
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks linked to climate change and familiarity with the recommendations of TCFD and other publications aimed at supporting organisations address, manage and prepare against the impact of climate change;
  • Excellent data handling skills and advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Detailed knowledge of issues surrounding climate change, energy, greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability, including risks and opportunities, mitigation, adaptation, strategy, science-based targets and scenario analysis;
  • Experience of GHG Protocol requirements, including Scope 3 value chain assessment techniques and methods, would be desirable;
  • Familiarity with a range of approaches to target setting including science-based target methodologies and CDP would be desirable;
  • Expertise in visualisation tools such as QGIS is a plus. Likewise, mastery of downscaling techniques developed as part of a research activity is beneficial.

Location

The role is based in the UK with a flexible blend of home and office working. The role requires attendance at the London head office as necessary for business purposes.
