Carbon Neutrality

Carbon neutrality plays an important role in the transition to net-zero. Whilst you work to urgently reduce your emissions, in the interim, you can contribute to sustainable development and nature-based solutions.

Why choose EcoAct.

We can design and implement a carbon neutral strategy that enables you to contribute to sustainable development and nature-based solutions.

How we can help with carbon neutrality.

To effectively limit global warming, we need to take responsibility for our full impact and take every measure possible to reduce it today. Whilst you work to urgently reduce your emissions, in the interim, you can offset your existing footprint via the purchase of carbon credits from avoided emissions projects. This enables you to contribute to international sustainable development and vital nature-based solutions to climate change. You will also become a carbon neutral business.

To future-proof your organisation. To position yourself as an international climate leader.

Nature based solutions for Carbon Neutrality Mangroves

Nature-based solutions

Supporting carbon offsetting projects could contribute to reducing deforestation, improving the health and livelihoods of communities or helping to finance renewable infrastructure to decarbonise energy supply. We put together portfolios of select projects which can be aligned to a company’s values and priorities.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

All of our projects are aligned to various SDGs, such as improving health; improving sustainable economic growth; improving gender equality; preserving biodiversity and life on land; and, of course, urgently tackling climate change.

Verification, carbon credit retirement & offset certification

We undertake our own audits in addition to the verification process so that we can ensure our clients of the robustness of the projects they are investing in. We also manage the process of credit retirement on international carbon registries and provide certification of offsets.

Key questions on carbon neutrality

What is carbon neutrality?

At global level, carbon neutrality is defined as a state in which CO2 emissions are balanced by CO2 removals over a specified period (IPCC, SR15).
At corporate level, the term is often used with a different meaning. The PAS 2060, the most widely used standard at international level, defines carbon neutrality as the achievement of the previously defined emissions reduction target, combined with the purchase of carbon credits to offset residual emissions over a specified period.
At EcoAct we consider carbon neutrality as an intermediate recurring goal ensuring that corporate efforts are consistent with the achievement of the global net-zero goal. Accordingly, we strongly recommend organisations to claim their carbon neutral only if they have (1) previously defined a long-term science-based net-zero strategy, (2) achieved a reduction target consistent with a 1.5°C trajectory over the specified period, and (3) met the requirements of the current standard.

Why is carbon neutrality important to tackling climate change?

No matter what companies currently do, their day-to-day business activities will still generate carbon emissions. Many companies deal with these by buying and retiring high quality carbon credits from certified or verified carbon projects. These will typically come from renewable energy, energy efficiency or forestry projects which are subsidised by the sale of carbon credits. Carbon credits will likely play an important and continued role throughout your journey to carbon neutrality, but they can also have positive social impacts for local or international communities.

How can I achieve carbon neutrality?

EcoAct can help you to calculate or validate your footprint to be offset so that you can make a credible carbon neutral claim. We can also support you in gaining PAS 2060 or PAS 2050 carbon neutral certification.
