2010 - International conferences on carbon On the basis of the work done in India with the Malana and Baspa carbon offsetting projects, the Indian Professional Association has invited EcoAct to its annual conference, IPA Day 2010 on June 20, its theme being this year “Mitigation of Carbon Dioxyde Emission: Means and Perspective”. Gerald Maradan, EcoAct’s CEO, will explain “Carbon market and climate change: Challenges and opportunities” and interact with the audience alongside AREVA Renewables’ Senior Executive Vice President & CEO, Mr. Anil Srivastava, and Total’s Sustainable Development and Environment Division Climate Energy Advisor, Mr. Luc de Marliave.http://www.ipafrance.com/ipa-day-2010 Program: http://www.ipafrance.com/sites/all/files/IPA_DAY_Final_Programme_11_June_2010.doc http://nice.ipsl.jussieu.fr/meetings/nice_2010_06/ Program : http://nice.ipsl.jussieu.fr/meetings/nice_2010_06/nice_1006_prog.shtml Program available on http://www.carbonexpo.com/thefair/conference_programm_overview.php www.hec-ssbc.org Program available on: http://hec-ssbc.org/program/ EcoAct offsets more than 1 million equivalent tons of CO2Paris – Sao Paulo: 15 March 2009 EcoAct announced today that it has offset more than 1 million equivalent tonnes of CO2 since 1 January 2008. EcoAct has topped the one million mark by financing a range of programmes in India, China and Brazil. These programmes included a number of technologies, such as hydroelectricity, wind farms, and the generation of biogas and electricity from biomass. ECOACT IS THE FIRST FRENCH ENTITY TO PASS THE 1 MILLION EQUIVALENT TONNE MARK In practical terms, EcoAct’s projects are based on clean energy sources that help to prevent the release of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Month after month, these offset tonnes have added up. 1,000,899 FEWER EQUIVALENT TONNES OF CO2 IN THE ATMOSPHERE CORRESPONDS TO… … 400,000 Paris-New York round trip flights in second class, two billion km in a compact car in the city, or the amount of CO2 absorbed over 20 years by 5.5 million trees in Brazilian forest. But the result is more than a simple figure. It reflects EcoAct’s commitment to fight against global warming by setting up numerous carbon offset programmes with a human face that contribute to local economic growth in developing countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia. ECOACT IS REDUCING ITS CARBON FOOTPRINT WITH PROJECTS THAT MAKE SENSE Eco Act functions as a real project manager in programmes for partner companies, identifying and bringing together all the talents necessary to managing the project and making it a success. EcoAct has developed 15 carbon offset programmes that respect the criteria in the charter of the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) and foster local economic development and the transfer of technology to southern countries. “All the programmes respect strict qualitative criteria. They apply Clean Development Mechanisms methodologies identified in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and are regularly audited by independent bodies recognised for their expertise,” says Thierry FORNAS, President and co-founder of EcoAct. First VCS 2007 and Social Carbon Tons Verified By D.O.E. TUV NORDParis – Sao Paulo: 23 February 2009 EcoAct and he Social Carbon Company today announced that 102,621 Tons of Social Carbon Credits have successfully been transferred to EcoAct. The Tons were generated from two Renewable Biomass Projects managed by the Social Carbon Company, based in São Paulo, Brazil. A TOTAL OF 102,621 TONS... ...of Verified Emission Reductions have been successfully verified, coming from fuel switching projects located in Central and Northeast of Brazil. Both projects reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by substituting native wood for a mix of renewable biomasses, such as sugar cane sawdust or coconut husk in order to generate thermal energy. The projects have been developed with VCS 2007 standard (Voluntary Carbon Standard www.v-c-s.org ) associated with the Social Carbon Standard (www.socialcarbon.org ). This is one of the largest transactions of Social Carbon tons to date and registered on the newly formed registry. The projects have been successfully validated and verified by independent third party, the D.O.E. TUV NORD from Germany. Monitoring is carried out by the developer with specialized. Stefano Merlin, CEO of The Social Carbon Company said, "The methodology utilized in these projects AMS I.E is extremely innovative and it was recently approved by the Executive Board of the UNFCCC. This is a very important achievement and is a fundamental innovation in the carbon market," continued Mr. Merlin. "We are very excited with the possibility of replicating projects that deliver emission reductions and important socio-environmental benefits to the marketplace," concluded Mr. Merlin. "This transaction reinforces CantorCO2e's dedication to innovation in the global carbon markets, said Laurence Rose, Chairman of CantorCO2e. "We are committed to the Social Carbon platform and we are enthusiastically working with companies that are combating climate change on a world wide scale," concluded Mr. Rose A SOCIAL APPROACH FITTING WITH ECOACT VALUES Thierry Fornas, President of EcoAct, said "the transactions in this market are supported by a true commitment to solidarity.
